Water Reclamation

The current plant is designed and permitted to treat 4.14 million gallons per day. The permits are issued by the N. C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources. After wastewater enters and is treated at the facility it becomes a direct discharge into Nutbush Creek and the Nutbush arm of Kerr Lake as part of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit.
The facility laboratory maintains North Carolina Division of Water Quality Laboratory Certification in order to analyze samples collected either at the plant, industries, streams, the lake and pump stations. A Storm Water Permit is issued for the storm drains around the facility. An Air Quality Permit is issued to operate the generator at the facility during power failures and peak power sharing.
The Pretreatment Program monitors certain area industries for compliance with all state, federal and City rules governing the Industrial Pretreatment program. Land application of sludge from the facility is governed by a North Carolina Division of Water Quality permit issued to Granville Farms, Inc.
